McLaren Software Wins Chevron Contract for Gorgon LNG Project (Australia)
McLaren Software, a subsidiary of the IDOX Group, and leader in Engineering Document Management and Control applications has been awarded a contract worth $1.4m by Chevron Australia Pty Ltd.
Under the contract McLaren will supply Enterprise EngineerTM software and services to manage and control engineering and supplier documentation and processes for the Gorgon Project in Western Australia. The contract award follows the completion of a master software licence agreement between the Chevron Corporation and McLaren Software in 2010.
The $AUD43 Billion Gorgon Project includes the construction of a 15 million tonne per annum (MTPA) Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant with the capacity to provide 300 terajoules per day to supply gas to Western Australia. It’s estimated that Gorgon LNG sold globally will result in about 45 million tonnes less greenhouse gas emissions per year, the equivalent of taking about two-thirds of all Australian vehicles off the road – when compared to coal.
The contract award followed an extensive market review to evaluate engineering document management and control applications available for the EMC Documentum ECM platform already deployed globally by Chevron. Product functionality, scalability, security and configurability to automate the stringent project documentation and control processes of the Gorgon Project were all key factors.
Enterprise Engineer will be installed in the Chevron Data Centre in San Ramon California supporting users in Perth, Australia to monitor, review, approve and manage engineering documentation received both from EPCs and equipment suppliers.
Paul Muir CEO McLaren Software commenting on the award, “Obviously we are delighted by the contract award and are already in the early stages of implementation. The selection by Chevron recognises the rich functionality, flexibility and enterprise scalability of our solutions. Enterprise Engineer TM application modules deliver efficiency and risk mitigation benefits across the capital project, and operations & maintenance stages of an asset. Our solutions uniquely combine the functionality of niche departmental applications with the flexibility and robustness that Owner- Operators need to support today’s mega-projects.”
Project Gorgon is one of the world’s largest natural gas projects and the single largest natural gas project in Australia. Operated by Chevron, Gorgon is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (47%), ExxonMobil (25%), Shell (25%), Osaka Gas (1.25%), Tokyo Gas (1%) and ChubuElectric Power Company (0.417%).
