Mermaid in management changes

Mermaid Maritime, an international subsea and offshore drilling services company, has appointed Raza Ullah Khan as the company’s new CFO and Darren Morgan as the executive vice president of Mermaid Subsea Services.

Mermaid said on Monday that the appointment of the new CFO comes as a result of a recommendation made by the Nomination Committee.

The company added that the appointment will provide continuity to the finance and accounting team as Khan will be able to leverage on six years of experience with the Mermaid Subsea Services Unit.

He will be responsible for the overall finance and accounting function of the company.

Khan’s previous experience also includes the roles of audit supervisor associate at KMPG Fakhro, a management accountant at Schlumberger Seaco and five years as an audit supervisor at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mermaid also named Darren Morgan as an executive vice president of Mermaid Subsea Services. The company said that Morgan’s qualifications and extensive work in the offshore oil and gas industry in both operations and commercial roles will contribute to streamlining and enhancing Mermaid’s subsea services business.

Before joining Mermaid, Morgan worked as a regional director at Seascape Surveys and managing director of Bibby Offshore for the Asia Pacific region.

Morgan’s role at the company will be the management and oversight of the company’s subsea services business.

He will succeed Paul Burger Whiley who is one of the co-founders of Mermaid Subsea Services. Whiley was appointed as head of the company’s subsea group in August 2012. Mermaid stated that Whiley resigned to pursue personal and other professional interests.

Whiley is also a director of Mermaid Subsea Services, Mermaid Subsea Services Saudi Arabia, and Zamil Mermaid Offshore Services Company. Mermaid said that Whiley will also resign from his directorship of these subsidiary and associate companies.

In a separate announcement made on Tuesday, Mermaid said that the company named Vincent Siaw as its executive vice president and COO.

The company added that Siaw will be responsible to ensure efficiency of business processes and overseeing the execution of strategies and policies as established by the board.

Siaw has been with the company since June 1, 2005, and has performed various key roles including Senior Vice President of Legal & Corporate Affairs, General Counsel, Company Secretary, Director of Corporate Strategy and Investor Relations Officer.
