METI, EU Commission Complete LNG Market Research

On September 10, on the occasion of the second LNG Producer-Consumer Conference held in Tokyo, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission compiled the achievements derived from the research cooperation from June 2013 concerning natural gas and the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market.

Aiming to strengthen the collaboration between natural gas consumer countries toward stable and inexpensive procurement LNG, METI has advanced research cooperation from June 2013 with the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission, which manages the energy policy of the world’s largest consumer region of natural gas.

In the research cooperation, both sides shared understanding on the market situations, including the roles of natural gas and LNG prices in Europe and Japan, while also exchanging views on specific measures to improve the market.

On the occasion of the LNG Producer-Consumer Conference, METI and the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission compiled the achievements of the research cooperation.
