MHPA Restructures Management Team (UK)

Milford Haven Port has announced completion of a restructuring of its senior management team as it prepares for major investment across its operations.

MHPA operates Britain’s third largest Port and offers pilotage and navigation services to the UK’s leading energy hub as well as owning and operating Pembroke Port and Milford Docks. The restructure groups these operations into two parts – Short Sea and Deep Sea.

Dick Moore, previously Marketing Director at the Port, is appointed Deep Sea Director with leadership responsibility for Deep Sea port operations which includes the development of new business.

New appointment Kevin Hobbs has been brought in as Short Sea Director, taking charge of Pembroke Port, Milford Docks and Marina and MHPA’s Estates portfolio, Quayside Estates. Jeff Teague, who has managed the Port’s estates division for many years, is appointed Estates Director, reporting to Kevin Hobbs.

Former Harbourmaster Mark Andrews has been appointed Corporate Affairs Director with lead responsibility for stakeholder engagement.

Deputy Harbourmaster Bill Hirst has taken over as Harbourmaster with focused and clear responsibility for the effectiveness of the port’s Deep Sea marine operations including pilotage, vessel traffic services (VTS) and associated marine operations.

Commenting on the restructure, chief executive Alec Don said: “As referred to in last year’s annual report, our business is fairly naturally divided into two parts, one focused on short-sea trading based on our owned asset base of Milford Docks and Pembroke Port, and our deep sea, energy-related port operation, driven by the exceptional depth of water, which underpins the trading of our major customers. In each area we are developing substantial investment plans, and these revisions to our structure give each of those businesses a well-defined, commercially-led structure, to enable a clear focus to be put on delivery of those plans.”
