Minister Coleman Welcomes Aurora LNG Export Approval

Minister of Natural Gas Development Rich Coleman has issued a statement in response to Grassy Point LNG export approval.

“Aurora LNG’s proposal to export B.C.’s natural gas now has the support of the National Energy Board,” Minister Coleman said.

“This is more good news for British Columbia and our goal to supply markets in Asia with a clean energy supply. It‘s another step toward new economic security and job creation for our province.

“Our government’s strategy to build this new industry continues to gain momentum. This is now the ninth export licence to receive approval.

“We look forward working alongside Aurora LNG as they continue to plan a project at Grassy Point near Prince Rupert following the signing of a sole proponent agreement with us last year.

“Aurora LNG is a joint venture by Nexen Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNOOC, INPEX and JGC. Their sole proponent agreement with the Province of British Columbia provides the group with the exclusive right to pursue long-term Crown land tenure for LNG development.”
