MMT Welcomes Two New Interns (Sweden)

MMT have close relationship with universities and marine science programs within MMT´s field of work. This summer MMT welcome two interns who recently graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont (USA).

Jaya Ghosh graduated from Middlebury College in 2012 with a joint degree in environmental studies and geology. Her undergraduate thesis was on analyzing a subaqueous slump in Lake Champlain, VT and primarily used data from geophysical surveys and core sampling. This fall, Jaya will enter a Masters in Environmental Management program at Duke University (NC, USA).

Emily Wei graduated from Middlebury College with a Bachelor’s degree in Geology. Her senior thesis at Middlebury used doppler current profilers, laser particle size analyzers, and sediment push cores to understand circulation and sediment dynamics in a shallow and eutrophic bay in Lake Champlain, Vermont. She plans on entering a Ph.D program at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography working on a number of projects utilizing CHIRP, Multibeam, and Lidar.

The two interns will participate in both onshore and offshore activities from MMT´s head office in Gothenburg, Sweden and onboard the vessels that are located in different places in Northern Europe.

MMT´s founder Ola Oskarsson comments on the internship:

“MMT is built on knowledge and passion for the seabed and beyond. By working closely with the scientific world focusing on the marine world, we gain by keeping us updated on today’s marine science education and contribute by introducing the future marine specialists to realities of field work. This is one way of bringing the marine survey into the future.”
