MRE Reveals East Anglia ONE Power Play

Manor Renewable Energy (MRE) has contracted with Siemens Gamesa to provide the full temporary power package of generators, personnel and vessels during the turbine installation phase of the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm.

The 714MW East Anglia ONE will comprise 102 Siemens SWT-7.0-154 wind turbines installed on jacket foundations at the site some 43 kilometres offshore Lowestoft in the UK. The wind farm is due for completion in 2020.

“With our temporary power provision for SGRE on the Galloper, Rentel and Beatrice projects over the last 24 months, we have gained a wealth of experience from working together and we are looking forward to continuing that relationship on the East Anglia ONE project; this project is key, not only to those parties involved, but to the UK offshore wind industry as a whole,” MRE Director Toby Mead said.

ScottishPower Renewables, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, is the developer of the project. According to Iberdrola, the installation of the first turbines, as well as first power, is expected at the end of the second quarter of the year.

Jacket foundations are currently being installed and are expected to be in place in the third quarter of the year.
