MSC Launches New Service at Ecuador’s TPG

Switzerland’s container shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has added a new service at Ecuador-based Terminal Portuario Guayaquil (TPG), operated by Chilean port operator SAAM.

The MSC Feeder Guayaquil/Balboa is mostly intended for refrigerated export of bananas. The new service will involve some 50 thousand additional boxes, according to TPG.

“With this new service, we expand our offer of products, benefiting our clients and Guayaquil’s commercial exchange. We are making great efforts to diversify our cargoes and the services we provide, in order to continue to position ourselves as an efficient alternative for Ecuador’s export of products,” Enrique Brito, TPG General Manager stated.

Located at the foot of Estero Santa Ana, in Isla Trinitaria, in Ecuador, TPG is a privately owned port, which SAAM started operating in July 2006,  with  a  concession  for  40  years.  In  2015, the terminal handled 2.27 million tons of containerized cargo.

SAAM is the second biggest port operator in South America, with 11 ports in the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile.
