MTCC Inks Breakwater Contract

The Republic of Maldives’ Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has signed a contract with the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) for the construction of Ha. Dhihdhoo channel breakwater.

The Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, signed the contract agreement on behalf of the Government and the MTCC CEO, Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, on behalf of MTCC.

The project will be funded by the Government of Maldives and the works should be completed within 160 days.

The main components of the project includes dredging and excavation of the mentioned area to a depth of 3 meters. An area at the entrance channel will also be dredged and excavated to a depth of 3 meters.

Apart from that, the project includes construction of a 90 meter breakwater which will be leveled with the rocks.

The ceremony, held at the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, was also attended by the Member of Parliament Dhidhoo constituency, Mr. Abdul Latheef Mohamed, Ha. Dhidhoo Council president, Mr.Ibrahim Shinan and other officials from the Ministry and MTCC.
