MV Hanjin Semarang Gets Stuck at Entrance of Chittagong Port, Bangladesh

The Panama-flagged Hanjin Semarang got stuck at the entrance of Chittagong upon being distracted by foggy weather.

The cargo ship mistakenly entered the channel’s southern portion, comparatively less deep than the regular northern part, and ran aground between Buoy No. 1 and Buoy No. 3.

Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Secretary Farhad Uddin Ahmed, however, said that before this accident 11 vessels crossed the channel. He hopes that the vessel will be successfully pulled by the jetty.
