Qatari LNG shipping giant Nakilat said on Sunday it has taken over full ship management and operations of Q-Max LNG carrier Al Dafna from Shell’s trading and shipping unit.

The 266,366-cbm Al Dafna is the fifth Q-Max LNG tanker that will come under the management of Nakilat as part of the planned transition with Shell Trading and Shipping Company (STASCo) revealed in October last year.

This brings the total number of vessels managed by Nakilat Shipping Qatar Ltd. (NSQL) to 13, comprising of 9 LNG and 4 LPG carriers.

The Q-Max carrier Al Dafna is wholly-owned by Nakilat and chartered by LNG producer RasGas.

The vessel was built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries. It was delivered to Nakilat in October 2009.
