Nakilat Ups Non-Qatari Ownership Limit

Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) has decided to increase its non-Qatari ownership limit from 25% to 49%, the company said in a release.

The decision was reached at Nakilat’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) that took place on Monday, ratifying a number of amendments to the company’s Articles of Association.

Moreover, EGM agreed that the Qatari governmental institutions, Qatari non-profit organizations, Qatari governmental pension and investments funds can own a percentage of share capital up to 5% of the total shares of the company.

Further details on what triggered the decision have not been disclosed.

Nakilat was established in 2004 and is a joint stock company owned 50% by its founding shareholders and 50% by the public. Nakilat owns 54 LNG vessels, making it the largest LNG ship owner in the world.
