Nakilat Welcomes Qatar Minister of Energy and Industry at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, was welcomed by Nakilat on Thursday, April 26 for a tour of the facilities at Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan Industrial City.

The visit began with a presentation by Nakilat’s ship repair and shipbuilding joint-venture companies, Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) and Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ). His Excellency was then given a tour of the shipyard.

Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard has brought world-class ship repair and shipbuilding facilities to Qatar. The shipyard is crucial to the development of a strong and sustainable maritime industry in Qatar,” said H.E. Dr. Al Sada.

Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard has grown to become a world-leading facility for a global market,” said Nakilat’s Managing Director, Muhammad Ghannam.

N-KOM is able to undertake an entire spectrum of repair works, fabrication, maintenance and construction for the marine, offshore and onshore industry. The shipyard has been certified by ASME (U,U2,S,PP) and National Board R stamps, allowing the yard to offer a comprehensive range of solutions for the fabrication, installation and maintenance of structures such as wellhead platforms, topsides, jackets and jack up drilling rigs. N-KOM has completed the safe and timely dry-docking and repairs for over 20 LNG carriers, besides servicing other types of commercial vessels.

NDSQ can build commercial vessels (tugs, pilot boats, and workboats), naval vessels (patrol boats, corvettes, diving support, logistic vessel) and mega yachts up to 170 meters long. NDSQ is certified under the ISO 9001:2008 standard and is presently building 20 vessels in Ras Laffan with deliveries in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
