Naming Ceremony for Ulstein Design PSV in Brazil

The first platform supply vessel (PSV) of the PX106 design from ULSTEIN® ever built, was named in a formal ceremony in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 24 November.

The vessel, CBO Atlântico, is the first in a series of six PSVs with X-BOW® hull line design from ULSTEIN, to be constructed at Estaleiro Alianca shipyard for Brazilian shipowner CBO (Companhia Brasileira de Offshore). CBO, which already has two PSVs of P106 design from ULSTEIN in its fleet, is the first shipowner who has ordered X-BOW vessels in Brazil.

“CBO’s requirements for standard of documentation has put ULSTEIN’s engineering team to the test in this project, but we have worked extremely well with both Estaleiro Alianca and CBO, and the end result is very satisfactory,” says Project Manager Brazil in ULSTEIN, Mr. Ingar Kaldhol, and adds that the good cooperation has brought ULSTEIN new knowledge and increased competence that will be put to good use in future projects.

CBO ordered two PX106 and two PX105 designs from ULSTEIN at the end of 2009, and an additional two PX105 designs in April 2011. The contracts include delivery of design, engineering, main equipment and building follow-up. The second PX106 is to be delivered at the beginning of 2012 and four PSVs of PX105 design will be delivered during 2012 – 2013.

CBO Atlantico will enter into an eight-year contract with Brazilian state oil company Petrobras in December.
