NASSCO delivers first LNG-ready tanker to APT

General Dynamics NASSCO on Friday delivered the first LNG-ready ECO tanker to American Petroleum Tankers.

The vessel, named the Lone Star State, is the first of a five-tanker contract between NASSCO and APT, which calls for the design and construction of five 50,000 deadweight-ton, LNG-conversion-ready product tankers with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity, General Dynamics NASSCO said in a statement.

Construction of the vessel began in September 2014 while the keel was laid in March this year. The Lone Star State was christened at NASSCO’s San Diego shipyard in October and sea trials were completed during November.

All five ships were designed by DSEC, a unit of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of Busan, South Korea and will also have the ability to accommodate future installation of an LNG fuel gas system.
