National Grid expects strong LNG supply to UK

The UK’s transmission network operator National Grid believes country’s gas supplies will remain strong during the summer even though LNG deliveries will be unpredictable and the country could see cuts from the continental Europe.

LNG supplies seem to largely depend on the East Asia demand, especially the restart of nuclear reactors in Japan, but the operator believes the prices of gas in the European and Asian markets suggest that LNG deliveries to Europe may be favored over East Asia, National Grid said in its 2015 Summer Outlook.

National Grid does however expect the LNG deliveries from Qatar together with pipeline supplies will cover the summer demand.

The national operator said in its report that over the summer period LNG has a credible supply range broadly between 5% and 50% of daily demand, and may vary greatly from day to day with boat schedules and commercial priorities.
