Neste Offloads Last Two Tankers, Exits Shipowning

Business & Finance

Finland’s oil refining company Neste said it will sell the product vessels Purha and Jurmo to Swedish shipping company Rederi AB Donsötank.

As informed, the ships will be handed over to its new owner in September 2015. Until that time, OSM Ship Management Finland will continue as the Purha’s and Jurmo’s ship management company.

The 25,000 DWT sister ships were built by Jinling Shipyard and were classed by DNV. MT Purmo was built in 2003 whereas Jurmo followed in 2004.

The sale is based on Neste’s decision to divest its shipping operations, announced in fall 2013. Neste has now sold all the vessels it fully owns.

The tankers and harbor tugs previously owned by Neste are now Finnish-owned jointly by the National Emergency Supply Agency and the Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company.
