New Boat for Freeport of Riga Pilots

Latvian, Freeport of RIGA pilots have taken delivery of the Wave Piercing Pilot Boat of Baltic Workboats design.

It is already fourth aluminium pilot boat with the new Wave Piercing hull design from Baltic Workboats shipyard.

This hull design allows low vertical accelerations and excellent sea keeping performance on high seas. This is mainly because of new slender hull lines, special bow and double chains. Half tunnels together with big rudders are intensifying maneuverability of boat also in depending sea conditions.

New boat is powered by two 552 kW, Volvo-Penta D16 engines, driving through ZF 665 gearboxes five blade FPP propellers.

The boat has made outstanding 31 knots speed on sea trials.
