Business & Finance

Abigail Ross Hopper has assumed her role as Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s (BOEM) director.

BOEM is an agency in charge of managing the development of the conventional and renewable energy and marine mineral resources on the Outer Continental Shelf.

Hopper officially assumed her new position, as the second BOEM director in history, on Monday, January 5, 2015. To remind, the announcement about new BOEM boss appointment was made in December last year by Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell.

On that occasion Sally Jewell said:

“Abigail Hopper’s knowledge of the energy sector, experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders and her legal expertise will be valuable assets to the Bureau and the Department as we continue to ensure the safe and responsible development of our domestic energy and mineral resources and stand up an offshore wind program.
