Nexans to present SUTA-FLEX at OTC 2015

Nexans is at OTC 2015 to launch its next generation SUTA-FLEX Subsea Umbilical Termination Assembly.

According to Nexans, SUTA-FLEX is designed to work in combination with Nexans’ range of umbilicals to provide a complete, single source solution that enables oil and gas customers to “benefit from more efficient and cost-effective project execution”.

A Subsea Umbilical Termination Assembly is an electro-hydraulic system that enables multiple wells to be controlled by a single one umbilical by connecting a number of subsea control modules to the same communications, electrical and hydraulic supply lines.

The Nexans SUTA-FLEX concept offers a design based on standardized features that fit easily within the perimeters of the reel. The company says that it is compact and allows a wide range of tensioners to be used for installation and is developed to withstand high pressure and ultra deep waters (up to 15,000 psi and 10,000 feet). SUTA-FLEX is supplied with field proven Nexans Electrical Field Installable Termination Assembly (FITA) and Fiber Optic Termination Unit (FOTU).

New possibilities

The SUTA-FLEX system is based on standardized components, which are assembled in accordance with the project’s specific needs.

The company says that SUTA-FLEX is able to accommodate hydraulic, electrical or fiber optic components – or any combination of the three – within its compact outer dimensions.
