Citing sources, Reuters reports the cargo was offered through private negotiations, however, it remained unclear whether the offer was a firm one.

Nigeria LNG a joint venture compromised of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Shell, Total and Eni, currently has the capacity to produce 22 million tons of the chilled fuel per year from its six liquefaction trains.

The company has awarded FEED contracts to two consortia for the seventh liquefaction train that will boost the facility’s production capacity up to 30 mtpa.

According to the company’s website, the preliminary early site preparation work has already been initiated.
