Nominations Start for 2015 Subsea UK Awards

The 2015 Subsea UK Awards, now in their ninth year, seek to recognise companies and individuals who are leading the way in Britain’s successful subsea sector.

Entries are being sought for the best subsea company of the year, the most promising young person in the sector, the most exciting new enterprise and the individual who has made the most outstanding contribution to the industry in 2014.

The awards will also recognise achievements and innovations in technology, safety and exports. Entries will close on 31st October with finalists announced in January. The accolades will be presented at a gala dinner, organised by Subsea UK and sponsored by Forum Subsea Technologies and SETS, on Wednesday 11th February 2015 as part of Subsea Expo, Europe’s largest subsea conference and exhibition. Several hundred business leaders are expected to attend the dinner which celebrates the hard work and outstanding achievements generated across the industry over the last twelve months.

Neil Gordon, chief executive Subsea UK, said: “The awards have become a highly anticipated social event in the energy industry calendar. Each year we receive a high calibre of entries demonstrating the strength of the subsea sector in the UK. “The awards shine the spotlight on the expertise, leadership and innovation that the British subsea sector is renowned for and underline the strength of our sector both at home and on the global stage.”

Adventurer, marine biologist and film-maker Monty Halls will deliver the after-dinner speech, sharing his experiences from a twenty-year career that included a decade as an officer in the Royal Marine Commando’s as well as leading a number of high profile global expeditions.

Last year’s dinner, attended by over 800 guests from across the international energy industry, saw Bibby Offshore named company of the year in recognition of its continued growth and investment in people. VerdErg’s John White was named the recipient of the outstanding contribution award, marking a subsea career that has spanned nearly four decades.

Subsea Expo, which will be held at from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th February 2015, will see over 200 exhibitors and a packed conference programme attracting over 6,000 delegates.
