Nordic Cooperation on Growth in Maritime Companies Related to Offshore Industry

Nordic Cooperation on Growth in Maritime Companies Related to Offshore Industry

As part of the implementation of the Plan for Growth in the Blue Denmark, a common Nordic project will be launched entitled “Nordic platform for growth in small and medium-sized maritime companies related to the offshore industry”.

The Danish Maritime Authority has received confirmation from the Nordic Council of Ministers that it will grant DKK 350,000 for a common Nordic project entitled “Nordic platform for growth in small and medium-sized maritime companies related to the offshore industry”. The project is intended to strengthen Nordic cooperation on the development and growth potential of small and medium-sized companies in the maritime industries related to offshore.

The project will have a joint Nordic steering group and be anchored in the Danish Maritime Authority. At the same time, the Danish Maritime Authority will establish a Danish support group for the project, where industry representatives can follow the project and contribute with knowledge and experience.

Deputy Director-General of the Danish Maritime Authority Birgit Sølling Olsen looks forward to strengthening Nordic cooperation:

“Both the report of the Growth Team and the Government’s subsequent Plan for Growth show that there is a special growth potential for maritime activities related to offshore. The aim of the project is to support the positive development in the Nordic countries. We will examine how we can utilize our Nordic knowledge and competences better, how to meet uncovered needs and whether there are any barriers to growth and employment that need to be addressed. This will strengthen maritime companies operating in this region and help establish the Nordic countries as a global hotspot within all parts of the maritime offshore industry.”

The project will be started in 2013 and is expected to be finalised in 2014.
