Nordic LNG, Kronos Titan Sign Gas Supply Deal (Norway)

Nordic LNG has signed a supply agreement with the single producer of titanium dioxide pigments in Scandinavia. Titanium dioxide pigments are used as feedstock when producing paint, plastic materials and paper products.

Kronos Titan AS is situated at Øra, an industrial area, outside Fredrikstad in Norway close to the LNG hub terminal that Skangass is currently finalizing. The natural gas will be supplied via pipe from the terminal to Kronos Titan. First to be converted is the furnace where natural gas will replace heavy fuel oil and as a second phase the boilers will be converted. Kronos is scheduled to start using natural gas in September 2011 and is estimated to use some 140 GWh of natural gas when when the full conversion is made.

Managing Director Per Thoen at Kronos Titan advises following reasons for changing over to natural gas;

– Environmental aspect, by using natural gas we substantially reduce our emissions of CO2 and NOx

– All in all a price competitive energy solution for Kronos Titan

– Per Thoen sums up with; “We save money while caring for the environment.
