Norway: Aibel Wins Troll A Upgrade Deal from Statoil

Aibel is to upgrade Troll A significantly over the next three and a half years. The contract was signed at the Statoil office on Vækerø in Oslo on Thursday.

“It was a very formal happening which was nice to take part in,” says Stig Jessen, who is in charge of Field development in Aibel.

He represented Aibel at the signing together with President and CEO Jan Skogseth, Project director Bruce McPherson for Troll A, and Tender manager Tor Ingebretsen.

The cornerstone of Norwegian gas production

The news of Aibel winning the important Troll A contract broke on 19 September. The contract has a value of NOK 2.7 billion.

“Statoil started the signing by saying that this is one of the most important projects in the company at the moment,” says Jessen.

“Troll A produces gas for NOK 250 million a day, and the aim of our project is to secure the gas production to 2063. Troll is the cornerstone of Norwegian gas production, and therefore this contract is an incredibly important victory for Aibel,” he continues.

“Felt good to sign”

The platform will be upgraded with a new compressor module, utilities module, and an electrical module to receive power from land.

“This is a strategically important project that will provide exciting challenges for our offices in Oslo and Haugesund. It felt good to sign the contract, and I’m looking forward to really get started with the project,” Jessen concludes.
