Norway: Bergen Group Risnes Lands Work Catamaran Contract
Bergen Group Risnes has today signed a contract with Sør Trøndelag County Authority for the construction of a combination vessel to be used for training purposes by Freya High School.
The contract is worth NOK 12 million. The vessel is 14.9 meters long and 9 meters wide and will have a service speed of 10 knots. Finished boat will be delivered to the customer in 2013.
This is the first contract to Bergen Group Risnes have made with this type of new design, with aluminum as building material. The vessel is a combined work catamaran accommodated for aquaculture industry needs and it will also be suitable as a fishing vessel for use in coastal areas.
Bergen Group Risnes evaluate the market prospects for this type of boat as positive.
“The contract will hopefully give us a good marketing and helping to strengthen its position in the market for labor and farming boats“, says managing director Roald Hellenes in Bergen Group Risnes.
Bergen Group Risnes is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bergen Group. The company has in the past decades delivered about 200 fish farming and work boats to the Scandinavian market. Bergen Group Risnes is part of Bergen Group Services division.
