Norway: GDF SUEZ E&P Norge Completes Replacement of Gjøa Riser

The Gjøa gas export riser replacement project has completed its activities within less than 10 months. The Gjøa facility is now producing according to current reservoir production potential.

The execution of the project went very well, thanks to careful planning and strict coordination, plus the ability of so many people with different tasks in different locations to work together as one unit, comments Head of Asset Geir Pettersen, thanking Technip and other suppliers for their contribution.

At most some 200 persons were involved in this work between the Gjøa platform, the vessels Normand Pioneer and Polar King and onshore support. The team completed this demanding offshore installation task in less than two months, despite periods of adverse weather, and without any incidents.

Production through the Gjøa platform has now reached 186 000 barrels of oil equivalent (9 January), equalling 90 500 barrels of oil and 15,2 MSm³ of gas from the Gjøa and Vega fields.
