Norway: Havyard Launches Navigation and Communications Packages for Vessels

Norway Havyard Launches Navigation and Communications Packages for Vessels

Havyard Group has now developed its own concept of navigation and communications packages for vessels. Saeborg B102, which is close to completion, is the first vessel with such an equipment package from Havyard.

The Fosnavåg-based company is currently completing the supply vessel Saeborg B102 at Havyard Ship Technology in Leirvik in Sogn, Norway. And this time Havyard can proudly proclaim that the navigation and communications package is provided by the company itself. This includes Radar, Ecdis, Log, Echo sounder, Autopilot, Conning, VDR, AIS, GPS, etc.

We have worked quite a while in order to develop the concept of NavCom packages and this is the first delivery that shows that we have reached our development goal and can offer a complete and proven concept to our customers, says Executive Vice President of Havyard Global Solutions, Gunnar Larsen.

Havyard also offers this concept within design and system packages being delivered to shipyards and shipowners that are building Havyard designTM at other shipyards in Norway and internationally. Havyard delivers products and services for the entire value chain within ship technology, from design and engineering, shipbuilding competence and expertise, purchasing and logistics, project management and operational support to ships.

And at the shipyard in Leirvik both employees and management are proud to have reached their target.

– Yes, we are definitely a little proud now. The installations are quite extensive in regards to these Naut-ships, and we have done everything from the planning to documentation and implementation, says Svein Olav Tørresdal, Project Manager Nav/Com at Havyard Power & Systems.

Earlier this week Havyard carried out thorough tests of the Saeborg B102 and all of its equipment at sea, in the waters near the Leirvik shipyard.

– It looks very promising, and the plan now is to continue this type of work on all new vessels from Havyard. We have already ordered equipment for the next three vessels 102, 103 and 106, says Tørresdal, and adding that Havyard this spring also performed a successful conversion for Petrobras on B105 in Leirvik. – This was another very successful project of which both Havyard and the shipowners Garware were very satisfied, says Tørresdal, who came to Havyard Group from the company Vico AS in Haugesund one year ago.

The man from Haugesund thrives in his new position in Havyard Group. – It really is such an exciting company to work for. There are constant and endless possibilities and challenges within the Havyard Group. I like things to happen and they certainly do in Havyard, says Tørresdal and smiles.
