Norway: Kleven Maritime to Build LNG Powered PSV

Kleven Maritime to Build LNG Powered PSV

Kleven Maritime of Norway said it has signed a contract with Remøy Shipping on the delivery of a LNG powered platform supply vessel.

The vessel is to be built at Kleven Maritime’s shipyard Kleven Verft. Total contract value for Kleven is around 400 million NOK.

In addition, the contract also includes an option for a further vessel of the same type.

Statoil recently awarded contracts for seven PSV newbuilds to be used on the Norwegian continental shelf. Three of the vessels are to be built by Kleven Maritime. July 3rd, Atlantic Offshore announced that they had chosen Kleven Maritime’s Myklebust Verft to build two vessels for which they have signed a six year contract with Statoil, and now it is also clear that Remøy Shipping has chosen Kleven Verft to build their new vessel.

“We highly appreciate that Remøy Shipping has chosen Kleven Verft for their latest project,” said Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven Maritime. “Statoil has specified the most advanced environmentally friendly technology for these vessels, and we very much look forward to working together with Remøy Shipping on the realisation of these fuel effective vessels,” said Rasmussen.

“Competition has been really hard this time, and we chose Kleven Maritime because of their long experience and competence when it comes to building LNG powered vessels. That, combined with the good quality they deliver and competitive terms, was decisive,” said Per Gunnar Jarnes, Managing Director of Remøy Shipping.

The vessel is of the VS 4412 DF PSV type from Wärtsila Ship Design Norway.

Kleven Maritime now has 14 vessels in the order book, at a total value of 6.7 billion NOK.
