Norway -Kleven Maritime to Build Subsea Construction Vessel

Kleven Maritime has signed a contract with Olympic Shipping on the delivery of a subsea support and construction vessel of MT 6022 MK II design. The vessel is to be built on Kleven Maritime’s shipyard Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway. The total contract value is around 600 million NOK (approx USD 100.1 Mln).

The contract also includes an option for a further vessel of the same type. Delivery is set to Q3 2013.

We are in the middle of an extensive building program for Olympic Shipping, and we are delighted that the ship owner now is expanding this with a large, advanced subsea vessel,” says Ståle Rasmussen, CEO Kleven Maritime.

Environmental considerations and the safety of our crew members are core qualities for us, and our comprehensive building program will ensure that we stay at the very front when it comes to having the most environmental friendly and modern offshore fleet in Norway,” says Stig Remøy, CEO Olympic Shipping.

Over the last six months we have taken delivery of two new builds from Kleven Maritime. We will take delivery of a third one on June 20th, and a fourth in November. We have ordered vessels worth around 2 billion NOK from Kleven Maritime over the last few years. Kleven Maritime has shown that they can compete both on price and quality. In Olympic we highly appreciate the flexibility Kleven has shown,” says Remøy.

The new vessel, designed by Marin Teknikk, Norway, will have accommodation for 110 people, length 115 m, width 22 m, with a 250 ton crane for subsea operations.

Kleven Maritime now has 13 vessels in the order book, at a total value of 6.6 billion NOK.
