Norway: Marathon Gets Consent to Use Facilities on Vilje Field

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted Marathon Oil Norge AS (Marathon) consent to use the facilities on the Vilje field in connection with the company assuming operatorship from Statoil as of 1 October 2012.

A change of operatorship entails that the new operator must apply for consent to use the facilities. This is because a consent is an expression of the PSA’s confidence that the operating company can carry out operations in a prudent manner and in compliance with regulatory requirements, and is primarily based on our assessment of relevant parts of the company’s management system.

The PSA has now granted Marathon Oil Norge AS (Marathon) consent to use the facilities on the Vilje field.

Vilje is an oil field in the central part of the North Sea about 20 kilometres northeast of Alvheim and just north of the Heimdal field.
