Norway: Statoil to Carry Out Modifications on Njord A

Statoil has received consent to carry out modifications on Njord A for Njord Nordvestflanken (NNVF).

NNVF is part of production licence 107, and is located in block 6407/7 about five kilometres northwest of Njord A. NNVF contains a discovery with gas and condensates.

The owners are E.ON Ruhrgas Norge (30%) , Statoil (operator, 20%), GDF SUEZ E&P Norge (20%), ExxonMobil E&P Norway (20%), Petoro (7.5%), VNG Norge (2.5%).

The modifications include, in part, drilling facility upgrades, process upgrades, process safety measures in connection with topside modifications, installation of risers and upgrading X-mas tree.

According to Statoil, the modifications will contribute to:

• Extend and ensure gas export plateau

• Increase gas and condensate reserves

• Extend Njord’s lifetime by 2-3 years

• Increase flexibility for disposal of gas
