Norway: Statoil to Use Norne Facilities Beyond Design Life
- Business & Finance
Statoil has received consent for extended use of the facilities on the Norne field beyond design life up to and including 31 December 2021. Norne is an oil field belonging to production licence 128.
The field is located in the Norwegian Sea in blocks 6608/10 and 6608/11, and came online in November 1997.
Norne lies approx. 300 kilometres west of Sandnessjøen and 80 kilometres north of Heidrun.
The field was developed with a production and storage ship (FPSO) tied in to five subsea templates on the seabed as well as to Svale and Stær in the satellite field Urd (Illustration).
The consent applies to the facilities Norne FPSO and Norne subsea installations.
Several modifications will be implemented, such as topside and riser modifications, on Norne, and modifications on subsea templates K and M.
According to Statoil’s original plan, the field would produce until 2016.
The resource base supports production until at least 2021, and it was thus desirable to extend the lifetime of the Norne facilities.
