Norway: Talisman Gets Approval to Use MSV Regalia on Yme Offshore Field

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted Talisman Energy Norge AS (TENAS) consent to use the MSV Regalia mobile living quarters facility on the Yme field.

About Yme

Yme is an oil field in the southeastern part of the North Sea, 110 km southwest of Egersund. The field has previously been in production, but was shut down in 2001.

Yme is currently part of production licence 316.

On 11 May 2007, the Government approved a new plan for development and operation of the Yme field. TENAS is the operator with an ownership interest of 60%.

The other licensees are Lotos Exploration and Production Norge AS (20%), Norske AEDC A/S (10%) and Wintershall Norge ASA (10%).

Yme is the first field on the Norwegian shelf to be reopened.

The Yme field will be developed with a jack-up production facility placed on a storage tank on the seabed on the Yme Gamma prospect, with a subsea facility on Yme Beta, 12 km away. Water depth in the area is between 77 and 93 metres.

Consent

The planned start-up for the use of MSV Regalia (pictured) is early November 2011, and the facility will be used for three to six months.

MSV Regalia will have a gangway connection to Yme MOPUStor (Mobile Production Unit and Storage).

MSV Regalia is a GVA 3000 design and was built in 1985 at GVA in Sweden.

The facility, which received the PSA’s Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in July 2009, is operated by Prosafe AS (Prosafe) and can accommodate 282 people in single cabins.
