The removal project, which is part of an ongoing rig chase multi-client campaign, is expected to begin this fall and take 3-4 weeks to complete, Oceaneering said on Wednesday.

Contract management is a cross border operation between Oceaneering’s Norway and UK teams.

“We are excited to work with Lundin Norway on this campaign featuring our vessel-based wellhead removal solution,” said Rune H. Rosnes, Business Development Manager, Oceaneering.

“Our multi-client campaigns allow all operators to benefit from economies of scale, thus reducing subsea plug and abandonment costs to a minimum.”

“We have considered cost/benefit and risk of moving this activity from rig to vessel and found it attractive to award this contract to Oceaneering,” said Geir Smaaskjær, Lundin Operations Manager Norway.

To date Oceaneering has more than ten wells in U.K. and Norway awarded to its 2019 Rig Chase multi-client campaign.
