Ukraine: OKEAN Shipyard Back on Track Thanks to Vasily Fedin

Vasily Fedin has carried out his commitments connected with shipyard OKEAN in Nikolaev and is going to concentrate efforts to develop shipbuilding programme at Kherson shipyard (KSY).

PJSC Nikolaev shipyard OKEAN Supervisory Board in November 2011 set an anti-crisis challenge and Vasily Fedin undertook management of the yard during such critical period. At that time it was necessary to renew the enterprise, to attract new orders to the shipyard and provide personnel with work.

For 7 months of management Vasily Fedin has extinguished millions-strong debts on wages, has provided the yard with orders for modernization and repair of ships, significantly has increased volume of manufacture, has organized regular wages payment.

“We are grateful to Vasily Fedin for that huge volume of work which he has executed, working in a position of President of the yard ,” noted Sergey Kopylov, Head of the Supervisory Board of PJSC Nikolaev shipyard OKEAN. “When he came, revival of the yard bagan. Appeared new orders entailing full stable employment and regular payment of salary to the working people. We appreciate that professional qualities of effective manager Vasily Fedin helped to our yard to survive at such hard times.”

Now Vasily Fedin will concentrate the efforts to the further progress of the Kherson shipyard of which he is Director General from 2005. Expansion of shipbuilding programme of Kherson shipyard, as strategically important enterprise for Ukrainian, provides for increase of building volume of a series of tankers, project RST27, progress of a direction of construction of offshore constructions and fully completed offshore vessels.

“Challenges we put to ourselves today are large-scale, but we will manage,” pointed Vasily Fedin, KSY Director General. “At present Kherson shipyard is the only yard in Ukraine building three fully completed tankers, project RST27, sought after today. The construction is ahead of schedule. We consider new offers. I am sure we shall fulfill the yard’s shipbuilding programme qualitatively and in time having confirmed with that, that, as before, in Kherson it is possible to build “on a turn-key basis” vessels of a world level,” has assured Vasily Fedin.

The production and service volume output in January-April 2012 increased by UAH 104.35 million, which is by 88 % more in comparison with the same period of 2011. The order book ensures loading of the yard till end of 2013: now under construction there are 4 shipbuilding contracts, in shiprepair – 21 vessel, 4 of them – under modernization.
