Omega Subsea Snaps Up Accpron (UK)

Business & Finance

Omega Subsea UK, a provider of project personnel to the energy industry, has acquired Westhill-based personnel firm Accpron UK to boost its provision of project management teams and individual personnel to the subsea, energy and oil and gas industries.

Accpron UK was established in 2011 to provide qualified and experienced personnel to the subsea and ROV industries. The firm was led by general manager Keith Robathan who will now hold the same role with Omega Subsea.

All of Accpron’s staff, comprised mainly of project personnel, will transfer to Omega Subsea and operate from its premises at Crichiebank Business Centre, Inverurie.

Omega Subsea said it will continue to concentrate on providing project management teams, but will also offer specialist teams to deliver focused commercial, contractual and HSEQ support services.

Although the drilling and subsurface engineering, decommissioning, and onshore and marine renewable markets will remain important to Omega Subsea, the company said it will diversify into other sectors. It has identified that the talents of its workforce are transferable into the construction and maintenance, rail and civil engineering markets.

The acquisition comes just one year after Omega Subsea UK was established. It is the UK division of Norwegian project management firm Omega AS.
