OPEX Secures New Contracts Across UK and Middle East

Aberdeen-based Operational Excellence (OPEX) Group Ltd is on track to meet its ambitious growth plans with £10million worth of business secured in the last three months.

The company, which helps operators eliminate production loss and unplanned breakdowns, has secured work with a number of oil majors and independents that will see OPEX provide operations and maintenance services for assets across the UK and Middle East.

The wins will also see a further 10 full time engineers recruited at OPEX’s office in the oil capital in the coming months, boosting overall employee numbers by a third to 30 and positioning the organisation for continued growth as it enters its third year in business.

Managing director Gerry Ward said: “Maximising production potential, improving safety, reliability and lowering the unit cost of operations is a major drive for the global oil and gas industry. Success largely depends on the competency of the resource base and good management of the assets, particularly those that are nearing the end of their expected lifespan.

“With an average of 30% of UKCS oil production being lost or deferred each year through equipment failure and unexpected shutdowns, investing in a clear and concise strategy that eliminates production loss and unplanned breakdowns allows operators to continue to achieve the high performance they desire.”

OPEX, from its base in Albert Street, Aberdeen, uses proprietary technologies, technical expertise and structured processes to reduce operational losses, manage risk and increase value for operators in the UK and internationally.

“This is an exciting time for our company,” added Ward. “Securing this significant volume of business in the last three months alone is testament to our unique services and our ability to deliver operational excellence to the industry by identifying opportunities for operational change based on solid engineering facts.”
