Ophir awards Equatorial Guinea offshore survey job to Fugro

Fugro has been contracted by Ophir to provide survey services for the development of large-scale assets and infrastructure offshore Equatorial Guinea.

Under the contract, Fugro will deploy three vessels, Fugro Searcher, Fugro Scout and Fugro Frontier to perform autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) surveys, as well as geotechnical, environmental and metocean surveys, the Netherlands-based geosciences services provider said in a statement on Monday.

The survey programme will take place at the Fortuna project to the west of Bioko Island, where Ophir is planning a large FLNG installation and associated subsea structures.

With the surveys beginning in November, the offshore operations are scheduled for completion in January 2016, Fugro said.

Ophir informed earlier in August that its Fortuna FLNG project remains on schedule for FID in mid-2016 and first gas in mid-2019.

The Fortuna field is expected to produce 2.2 mtpa and the UK-based Ophir currently has an 80% working interest.
