Origin Energy's Thistle 1 Exploration Well Spuds (Australia)

Origin Energy, an Australian integrated energy company focused on gas and oil exploration and production, on behalf of the VIC/P43 Joint Venture, advises that the Thistle 1 exploration well has spudded on 03:30 hours EDT on Thursday 19 April 2012.

The well is being drilled using the semi-submersible drilling rig Stena Clyde. Origin said it would provide further information again when well operations have been completed with a summary of results, or of any event that is material.

Thistle 1 is a vertical exploration well located in exploration permit VIC/P43, operated by Origin some 16km north-northwest of the Geographe gas field. Thistle 1 is a vertical well.

Planned total depth of the well is 2,559mRT (2,534mTVDSS). The well will be plugged and abandoned after the evaluation program is completed.
