ORPC Solutions names new president

Ocean Renewable Power Company (ORPC) has appointed John Ferland as President of ORPC Solutions.

John Ferland has 30 years of experience in commercialization strategy for renewable energy companies, port emergency response operations, coastal resources management, and public policy.

He was the president of Maine Center for Enterprise Development and, and the founding president of Environmental & Energy Technology Council of Maine (E2Tech), an industry association for clean technology companies in northern New England.

Chris Sauer, ORPC President and CEO, said: “John’s winning approach to ORPC’s project and market development, community outreach efforts, and regulatory agency and fishermen relations, has been key to our pioneering success in the ocean energy industry.”

Through its Cobscook Bay tidal energy Project, ORPC has been feeding electricity to the US grid since 2012. ORPC power systems are designed around their proprietary Turbine Generator Unit (TGU).
