Peru resumes LNG exports, ships cargo to South Korea

Peru’s only natural gas liquefaction facility at Pampa Melchorita restarted exports after a pipeline caused a halt in operations recently.

The latest vessel to leave the facility with a cargo is the 173 400 cbm Barcelona Knutsen LNG carrier.

According to the data by the state-owned Perupetro, the vessel departed Peru’s LNG export facility on February 21 and set course for South Korea.

This is the first cargo shipped after a reported supply pipeline leak caused a stop of operations mid-January.

With the departure of Barcelona Knutsen, the 4.4 mtpa liquefaction plant has shipped 309 cargoes of LNG since it started operations in June 2010.
