Peru sends first LNG cargo of 2016 to Mexico

Peru’s only liquefaction facility at Pampa Melchorita shipped its first LNG cargo of 2016 to Mexico.

Teekay’s 135,423 cbm LNG carrier Madrid Spirit loaded its cargo and departed on Sunday, January 3, heading for Mexico.

State-owned Perupetro has not confirmed the exact destination of the vessel, but shipping data reveals it is heading for the Manzanillo LNG terminal with an estimated time of arrival set for January 8.

Madrid Spirit LNG carrier with an overall length of 284.37m and breadth of 42.5m was built in 2004 by former Izar Shipyard Group, now Navantia, in Spain.

With the latest vessel, Peru’s export plant loaded 305 cargoes since the start of operations in June 2010.
