Peru sends LNG to Spain and Mexico

Vessels

Peru’s only liquefaction plant at Pampa Melchorita dispatched cargoes to Mexico and Spain last week.

According to Perupetro, the 173 400 cbm Valencia Knutsen LNG carrier departed to Spain on June 10. Two days later, on June 12, Chevron’s newbuild, the 160,000 cbm Asia Excellence LNG set course for Mexico.

These were the first two cargoes loaded at the facility in June. Perupetro data reveals that only three vessels loaded at the facility in May.

Peru’s facility has an estimated annual production capacity of 4.4 million tons of LNG. The complex also consists of two storage tanks, each with a capacity of 130,000 cubic meters of LNG, a marine terminal and a supply pipeline.

With these two shipments, the LNG plant dispatched 273 cargoes in total since it started operations in June 2010.
