Peru ships five LNG cargoes in February

Peruvian liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility in Pampa Melchorita shipped a total of five cargoes in February, one less than the first month of the year.

However, compared to February 2018 when the facility shipped only two cargoes, this is a significant increase.

It has to be mentioned that the LNG export plant halted exports during February 2018 when the pipeline, which transports fuel from the Camisea gas fields in the Peruvian jungle to the Pacific Coast, burst because of a landslide amid heavy rains in the Cusco region.

Data from the state-owned Perupetro shows that in February 2019, out of the five cargoes, three landed in Japan, and one in South Korea and the Netherlands each.

In terms of volumes, the five cargoes added to a total of 698,029 cubic meters, which compared to 893,838 cubic meters exported in January, and 286,521 cubic meters in February 2018.

In total, the facility has shipped 506 LNG cargoes since it started operations in June 2010.
