Petrobras Delegation Visits COSCO Shipyard in Dalian, China

From May 10 to 12, Mr. Renato Duque, the Petrobras director for services, headed a delegation of top management from Petrobras and its key partners, which paid a special visit to Dalian for a 3-day inspection at the COSCO Shipyard.

The visitors from Petrobras’s key partners included Mr. Miguelangelo Thome, President of the Brazilian offshore module contractor QUIP company, Mr. David Sverre, Executive Vice President of Projects at BW Offshore, Mr. Johan, Director of Project Management at Wartsila Ship Power, as well as Mr. Rogerio Araujo, Business Manager of Brazil’s largest drilling equipment provider Odebrecht Group, and Mr. Bosco, project manager for the FPSO conversion contractor MODEC.

On May 10, the leaders of COSCO Dalian Shipyard first took the delegation on a tour of the production site of the FPSO conversion project “BW NISA”, which the yard built for Petrobras, working in partnership with QUIP, BW Offshore, and Wartsila. Then the guests inspected the construction progress of the drillship “Dalian Developer”. Finally, Mr. Renato Duque visited “RADIANT JEWEL”, another Petrobras FPSO converted by the yard in co-operation with the contractor partner MODEC.

The next day,the Petrobras delegation, accompanied by Mr. Wang Xingru, President of the COSCO Shipyard Group, visited the corporate culture hall. Mr. Renato Duque invited COSCO Shipyard to actively take part in the tenders for the planned rigs and conversions that Petrobras will be opening the bidding for.

Since 2005, COSCO Shipyard has built or converted 11 offshore units for Petrobras as the end user. Among them, COSCO Shipyard has delivered three FPSOs, one rig, and a shuttle tanker. At present there are still two FPSOs, one rig, and three shuttle tankers under construction.
