Songa Venus stays with Petronas

Petronas, Malaysian state-controlled oil company, has exercised the 1 year optional contract for Songa Offshore’s semi-submersible drilling rig, Songa Venus.

Songa Offshore, a Cyprus based drilling contractor and the owner of the rig, has revealed the information in its fleet status report for July 2012, without disclosing the value of the contract.

The rig which has been under contract with Petronas for almost a year now, on an $82 million contract, will continue its work in Malaysia until Q3 2013.

Songa Venus achieved an operating efficiency of 100% during the month of July.
