Petronas Halts Production at Tukau Platform (Malaysia)

Malaysia’s oil giant Petronas has halted production on its Tukau platform after the fire outbreak was reported on Monday morning, Reuters reports.

The fire broke out at the Petronas operated Tukau B drilling platform, located approximately 30 kilometers offshore Miri, Sarawak. Five maintenance workers were injured. The five workers were immediately flown by a helicopter to Miri Hospital.

Datuk Sebastian Ting, Political Secretary to Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, told reporters that all the injured workers were in stable condition and undergoing treatment at the hospital, the Borneo Post reports.

Reuters further reports that Petronas has said that the platform will be shut until the investigation into the incident is completed.
