PHOTO: Skipsteknisk-designed OCV leaves Turkey

Norwegian offshore vessel designer Skipsteknisk shared a photo through its social media channels on Tuesday of the new offshore construction vessel (OCV) Volstad Oceanic as it was leaving the Tersan Shipyard in Yalova, Turkey.

Skipsteknisk is the designer of the ST-259 Arctic, later named the Volstad Oceanic, built for operation in Arctic waters.

According to the latest AIS data, the vessel left Yalova on November 17 and is currently in Dunkerque, France, near the English Channel.

The 128.5 meter-long and 25 meter-wide OCV was built at Tersan Shipyard in Turkey under the construction contract awarded by Volstad Shipping in July 2013.

The vessel, delivered on November 1, 2016, is designed for operation under severe weather conditions with high maneuverability and station keeping capabilities.

The OCV is outfitted and prepared for ROV operations, pipeline and route surveys, subsea installation work through moonpool and over shipside, crane operations as well as cable and pipelaying work using carousels.

Norwegian software house and provider of services to the international shipping and offshore industries, Adonis AS, said in October as a part of a contract announcement with Allseas that the newbuild vessel was bought by the offshore contractor and would be given the name Allseas Oceanic.
