Picture of the day: Tornio LNG terminal works

Following the cornerstone laying in August for Manga LNG’s Tornio terminal, works have progressed at the Port of Röyttä, Finland.

Wärtsilä, that a signed a turnkey contract to build the liquefied natural gas receiving terminal in 2014 informed that the work is progressing on-schedule.

According to a company’s brief statement, nearly 4000 cubic metres of concrete was poured during the construction of the terminal’s LNG storage tank.

About 320 tons of cryogenic and normal high yield rebar steel were installed and a 1250 ton mobile crane was deployed on site to lift the dome structure and place it on top of the tank.

Gasum recently said that the terminal will be operational in early 2018 with costs estimated around €100 million.
